Am I required to have experience?
No. Apprenticeship is designed to help you gain the required skills and knowledge both on the job and related classroom training to become a journeyman level sheet metal worker.
Do I need to provide high school transcripts and placement test results if I have taken college-level classes, or earned a college degree?
Yes. You must document that they meet the minimum entrance requirements even if you have more than the minimum requirements. Providing additional proof of additional education/training records may improve your score.
Do I need to provide official transcripts?
No. However, high school transcripts must be “complete” (graduation date, ALL classes with grades, GPA, etc.) and legible.
Do I have to re-apply and start the application process over from the beginning to improve my ranking?
No.  Once an applicant has been placed on the ranked pool of eligibles they may attempt to improve their score by doing one of the following:
 
  1. Add documentation points to the overall score. Refer to the “Protocol for Submitting Documentation Points” information you received after you applied.
  2. Re-interview. You must wait at least six (6) months from your last application date to be eligible to re-interview. Refer to “Protocol for Request to Re-Interview” information you received after you applied.

What is ACCUPLACER?

A test that consists of reading, writing, and arithmetic. They typically take 3 hours to complete. Study resources: ACCUPLACER and Test Prep Review.

 

What is WorkKeys NCRC?

A National Career Readiness Certificate is earned by completing the three WorkKeys Assessments:

  • Applied Math
  • Workplace Documents
  • Graphic Literacy
