Will Thompson has been passionate about the trades since an early age. His journey into sheet metal began in 1994 when he first applied and was accepted into the trade, a decision that would shape his career and provide him with a solid foundation for the future. Over the past 28 years, Will has dedicated himself to the industry, progressing from journeyman to General Foreman, taking on diverse roles that allowed him to master various aspects of sheet metal work.
In the last two and a half years, Will transitioned into an instructional role with the Sheet Metal Institute, finding immense fulfillment in guiding apprentices toward success. His commitment to helping the next generation develop their skills has been a highlight of his career. As of November 2024, Will takes on a new role as Executive Administrator of Training at SMI, where he is excited to contribute to the institute’s growth and help shape the future of the trade.
Outside of work, Will enjoys woodworking, staying physically active, traveling, gardening, and spending quality time with family and friends.
